Robin McNamara

Robin McNamara is an American singer, songwriter and musician. He was born in Newton, Massachusetts on May 5, 1947. In 1963, while in tenth grade, Robin formed a rock and roll group with a few school mates; they christened their band Robin and the Hoods, performing locally in the New England area with Robin as the lead vocalist. In the late 60's, Robin relocated to New York City, where he became a cast member of the Broadway musical Hair, playing the lead role of Claude from 1969 through 1971. In 1969, he was introduced to composer/producer Jeff Barry, who signed him to his Steed label. Together with Robin's then-songwriting partner Jim Cretecos, they wrote a buoyant ditty called "Lay a Little Lovin' On Me" which Robin took into the U.S. Top Ten in 1970.

In recent years Robin has been keeping busy in the recording studio and doing concerts around the country i.e. he will be with Kool 103 Caravan of Stars Concert in Jackson Tennessee November 18 2006.
