Robin Höek/Nurse Stimpy is a double episode of The Ren and Stimpy Show. It originally aired as Episode 2a/2b of Season 1 on August 18, 1991.
[edit] "Robin Höek"
It's bedtime for Ren and Stimpy. They say their prayers and get to bed. Stimpy can't get to sleep without a good night's story, however, and askes Ren to read him one. Ren is too annoyed to read him a story, so Stimpy grabs the book of Robin Hood to read it to himself. However, Stimpy can't read so he makes up the story of "Robin Höek" by himself.
The tale of brave Robin begins with Stimpy mangling both the characters and the setting. Each with disastrous effects for Robin Höek.
After braving the dangers of a Killer Monk-infested moat, Robin rescues Maid Moron (Stimpy in drag) from the Evil Sheriff Of Dodge City (George Liquor's first appearance).
Robin and Maid Moron are wed, but before they can kiss, Ren awakes from the dream and promptly screams his lungs out.
Initially thankful that the events were all just a crazy dream, Ren looks across the bed to his pal asleep, dressed like Maid Moron, and Ren faints from the shock.
Notes and Trivia:
- This is the first time that it's known that Ren wishes for Huge Pectoral Muscles.
- This episode wasn't one of John K's favorite episodes, because having to wait for the narration slowed down the timing of the gags.
- Likewise, the prolonged scene of Stimpy running was thought to be a risk, and that Nick might not allow such an elongated scene in the cartoon.
- The original ending of the episode was not for Ren to wake up and see Stimpy in the Maid Moron outfit, but rather to have the bed fall away, to have Ren and Stimpy landing on the backs of two bulls, as they ride off into the sunset. The executives at Nickelodeon reportedly balked at how little sense this scene made, and asked for a different ending. Later, however, this ending would be eventually used to close the episode "Rubber Nipple Salesmen".

"Stimpy's Big Day/The Big Shot" | "Space Madness/The Boy Who Cried Rat!" |
Upon awaking one morning to find himself energetic and feeling as healthy as possible, Stimpy soon discovers that Ren has awoken so sickly that he's half dead. Stimpy is saddened by his best pal's condition and vows, as Nurse Stimpy, to bring Ren back to health, even until all hope is gone. Stimpy performs ridiculous medical tests on Ren, which confirms his suspicions that Ren is definitely unhealthy. He endures icky tasting medicine, a possible "spleen flensing", and a very embarrassing Sponge Bath which the entire neighborhood bears witness to.
Ren starts to feel much better the following morning. That is, until he reads his morning paper and finds his Sponge Bath with Stimpy on the front page. Ren immediately falls into a coma, and Stimpy works tirelessly to nurse Ren back to health once again, and cracks under the pressure.
The next day, Ren awakes, and to his surprise is healthy once again, and "feels like a million bucks". However, Ren soon discovers that now it is Stimpy who is the sick one.
Nurse Ren to the rescue! Ren cackles with glee as he realizes "Now it's MY TURN!!"
Notes and Trivia:
- John K was extremely unhappy with this episode because of a wealth of animation mistakes, and truly ugly color design. He disliked the final, finished episode so intensely that he gave himself a pseudonym credit, rather than his real name.
- One scene in particular of Ren sitting on a stool and saying the lines "Just you back off... I can do it" was shot badly out of focus and mis-timed. The attempt at salvaging the animation resulted in an oddly digitized, zoomed-in scene.
- Several Scenes were storyboarded but removed at the request of Nickelodeon. These included a scene with Dr Leech (a walking leech with a medicine bag) sucking all of the bad blood from Ren, and Mr. Horse being invited to examine Ren's glands.
- Supposedly, Nickelodeon executives asked John to "never deliver another episode like this again."
What Will We Do Till Then? Magic Nose Goblins (Goodbye II)
The show is over, but Stimpy hates to say goodbye. What will he do until next week?! Ren offers various ideas that Stimpy dosn't exactly cotton to, until Ren suggests that he entertain himself by playing with his Magic Nose Goblins. However, Magic Nose Goblins happen to be a collection of boogers wiped under the bottom of a piano stool.
Notes and Trivia:
- This bumper was semi-censored by Nickelodeon. They did allow for the shot to be seen, but the scene faded out quickly before the scene finished panning across the close-up painting of the Nose Goblins.
