Robert Wood Johnson III

Robert Wood Johnson III (September 9, 1920December 22, 1970) was a philanthropist and the President of Johnson and Johnson from 1961 to 1965.

He was born in 1920 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Robert Wood Johnson II. He married Betty Wold and fathered Robert Wood Johnson IV .

He worked for Johnson & Johnson from 1941 to 1965, rising to president of domestic operations until his father fired him. He also served for ten years on the board of directors of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation including terms as vice president and president. On July 1, 1986, Rutgers Medical School and Middlesex General Hospital were renamed the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, respectively, in his honor.
