Robert Wintner is an author and founder of the Snorkel Bob's chain of dive shops throughout Hawaii.

As Robert Wintner, his books, all fiction, tend to be led by male protagonists who are the typical anti-hero. Several themes are consistent throughout the books, including alcohol and other drugs, sex, and often Hawaii itself.

Snorkel Bob's guides to Hawaii are written in the same sort of engaging, sarcastic tone as his novels. The guides are mainly diving guides but also detail where to get good food (and even where to find marijuana). One overused piece of prose is to repeatedly refer to himself in the third person, e.g., "but you wouldn't want to do that to Snorkel Bob's fishy friends!"
