Robert W. Lundeen

Robert W. Lundeen (1942- ) is an American businessperson.

Lundeen was born in Warrenton, Oregon. He received his bachelor's degree in 1942 from Oregon State College.

After college Lundeen served in World War II in China as a weather officer with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He advanced to the rank of Major and earned a Bronze Star.

[edit] Dow Chemical Company

He joined Dow Chemical Company in California as a research and development engineer in 1946 and rose to executive vice president in 1978 and chairman of the board in 1982, retiring in 1986.

He served on the board of directors of Tektronix Corporation, of Portland, Oregon from 1985 to 1991 and as chairman of the board from 1987 to 1991. He took direct control of Tektronix in 1990 as chief executive officer, initiating the company's financial turnaround.

[edit] American Institute of Chemical Engineers

A Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, he has many honors, including the OSU Distinguished Service Award in 1983 and the Alumni Association's E.B. Lemon Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1997. Mr. Lundeen is an advocate for higher education, public policy, and community improvement. He is a long-time supporter of many programs at OSU and has served as an Advisory Board member for Chemical Engineering and the College of Engineering.

[edit] Oregon State University Foundation

After serving 15 years on the Oregon State University Foundation Board of Trustees, Lundeen was named an honorary trustee in 1998. He established the Robert West Lundeen Presidential Scholarship, the Betty Lundeen Achievement Scholarship and the Robert and Betty Lundeen Marine Biology Fund. In addition to serving on the Valley Library Advisory Council, he has served on the College of Science Board of Visitors, the Chemical Engineering Advisory Board and the College of Engineering Advisory Board.

Lundeen has also been involved with the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the University of Washington, the Orcas Island Community Foundation and the Kettering Foundation, among many other activities.

His late wife, the former Betty Anderson, of Lake Oswego, Oregon, received her business degree from OSU in 1942. They had three children, John W Lundeen, Peter B Lundeen, and Nancy Lundeen, who graduated with a degree in geology from OSU in 1975. His father, Arthur Robert Lundeen, was also a 1917 graduate at Oregon State, in forestry. He currently lives in Deer Harbor, Washington.
