Robert Robinson is a fictional character in the Australian soap Neighbours. He is the estranged son of Paul Robinson, and is portrayed by Adam Hunter. He entered the soap in 2006.
Robert was raised in Tasmania by his mother, Gail (Fiona Corke), along with his triplet siblings, Cameron (also played by Hunter) and Elle (Pippa Black). Growing up, Robert was constantly compared to his do-good brother, Cameron, and was treated as second-best. His brother and sister kept a diary about him called "The Freak Files". Nicknames given to Robert by them include "RobRob", "Rob Squared", "The Blob", "Ferret Boy" and "The Cat Skinner".
He arrived on Ramsay Street secretly plotting the demise of his family by pretending to be Cameron, whom he put in a coma. He planned to turn Elle, Paul, and Izzy against each other in an attempt to hurt Paul for what he "did" to Gail. It was also revealed that he was the Lassiters Joy Flight plane bomber, and ultimately responsible for the deaths of David, Liljana, and Serena Bishop. On May 30, 2006, it was implied that Robert murdered Connor O'Neill (Patrick Harvey), who had gotten "too close to the truth". He began work as an orderly at Erinsborough & District Hospital with plans to become a nurse. In conjunction with this he started dating nurse Katya Kinski.
Cameron eventually woke from his coma, and Robert switched back identities, pretending to be in a coma at the hospice. Because of this, the real Cameron was assumed to be Robert when everybody found out that "Cameron" was really Robert, following his failed attempt on Elle's life. Cameron was arrested, but hoped Elle would be able to prove to the police that he was not Robert. His mother Gail visited from Tasmania to provide moral support to the Robinsons and also to verify whether or not Cameron is telling the truth. Robert later "awoke" from his coma to continue his evil plans. After luring Paul into isolation under the guise of a father-and-son camp, Robert trapped Paul in a mine shaft and showed Paul reminders of the bitterness he had suffered before leaving his father in the caved-in mine.
When he came out, Gail Robinson, Elle Robinson and Izzy Hoyland confronted him. Izzy said that no one could ever love a freak like him, which provoked an outburst from Robert, who subsequently ran off. He then kidnapped Katya Kinski, with whom he remained obsessed despite having ended their relationship prior to returning to his real identity. Incensed by the apparent re-marriage of Paul and Gail, however, he appeared at their ceremony and shot Paul. Yet again Paul escaped largely unscathed, as he had worn a bulletproof vest in anticipation of such an occurrence. Robert was arrested after his failed assassination attempt, and was clearly dismayed as his father, alive and conscious, smirked at finally outsmarting his psychopath son.
Recently, Robert sent a note to Katya Kinski saying that he will be with her very soon. Scared for her safety, Katya tells Max who tells Paul. Paul rings the prison to find out how Robert got a message to Katya from within a high security prison. The prison is in confusion. Paul finds out that the prison has discovered an escapee - Robert.
While Katya is walking to a Tibetan seminar, she sees Cameron who offers her a lift. She accepts the lift and arrives safely at her destination. It is then that she receives a call from Max who is nearby. He tells her that Robert has escaped and she mentions that she's in a car with Cameron. Worried, Max tells Katya to get out of the car and go straight inside the place where she's meant to be.
Katya is freaked out that she's in the car with Robert and bails out, leaving her bag in the car. She runs off. Confused, Cameron runs after Katya to give her the bag. Max doesn't realise this and only sees 'Robert' chasing after Katya. In a mad attempt to save Katya, Max drives into Cameron, thinking that he's Robert. He doesn't realise that he's pretty much killed Cameron while mistaking him for Robert.
Meanwhile, the real Robert is on the loose and will possibly return to take Katya. However, during the incident where Max runs over Cameron mistaking him for Robert, Senior Sergeant Steiger confirms that Robert never escaped from prison - he just sent the message to Katya to scare everyone unnecessarily. As for Cameron, he suffers severe injuries and requires immediate surgery but sadly dies on the operating table.
