Robert Mascara

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert "Belvedere" Mascara (born c. 1971) is an Australian television personality.

Of Italian descent, Mascara started off on the show Good Morning Australia as a floor manager. Host Bert Newton decided to utilise Mascara as a "taste-tester" for the recipes made on the show by the guest chefs. Newton nicknamed Mascara "Belvedere", in reference to him being second banana. The name was taken from the Looney Tunes cartoon where there was a dog named Belvedere.

Belvedere, before tasting the recipe, would read out a poem, either written by himself or any number of others on the set, including Newton.

Mascara finished working at TEN [Good Morning Australia] at the end of 2005, after 14 years. Robert worked on the show since it's inception in 1992.
