Robert Malcolm, (born November 12, 1980 in Glasgow), is a Scottish professional footballer who is currently playing for Derby County.

He previously played for Scottish Premier League team Rangers, either as a centre-back or defensive midfielder.

Rarely a first choice player, Malcolm had on several occasions appeared poised to leave in search of more frequent appearances, only for the allure of the club he grew up supporting to prove too strong.

In May 2004, Robert Malcolm was fined £5,000 after signing a sectarian comment alongside an autograph for a fan. [1]

Malcolm, despite playing 17 times for Rangers during season 2005-06 under Alex McLeish, was thought not to be in the plans of new manager Paul Le Guen after he was left out of the squads pre-season trip to South Africa.

Malcolm had been linked with moves to Dundee United, Ipswich Town and Coventry City, before being released by Rangers on August 31, 2006. He then signed for Derby on September 6, 2006.
