Robert Legget

Robert Ferguson Legget (September 29, 1904 – April 17, 1994) was a Canadian civil engineer, geologist, educator, historian and writer.
Born in Liverpool of Scottish parents, he received a BEng (Hons) 1925, MEng 1927, and DEng (honorary) 1971, all from the University of Liverpool. He worked for 11 years as an engineer in England and subsequently in Canada. He later taught at the University of Toronto. He was also director of the National Research Council's division of building research for 29 years. He was the founding President of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
In 1955, he wrote Rideau Waterway, about the Rideau Canal.
In 1967, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and was promoted to Companion in 1989.
