Robert Kimmel Smith

Robert Kimmel Smith (born July 31, 1930, Brooklyn, New York) is an award-winning American children's author.
Between 1957 and 1965, he was a copywriter at an ad agency, and was a partner and creative director at Smith and Toback from 1967 to 1970. In 1970 he became a full-time writer; his first children's book, Chocolate Fever, was published in 1972. His other works for young readers include Jelly Belly (1982), The War With Grandpa (1987), and Mostly Michael (1990).
One of his adult novels, Jane's House won an American Library Association Best Book of 1982. Another book called The Sadie Shapiro Knitting Book won an OPIE award in 1973. The War with Grandpa earned a William Allan White Children's Book award and a Mark Twain Award in 1987. The Squeaky Wheel won the Parents' Choice Award for Story Books.
