From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robert James Wallace, photographer, author and magazine columnist, was born on July 17, 1967, in Sydney, Australia.
Wallace has worked extensively with corporate, editorial, and government clients as a commercial and stock photographer and photographic educator. His advertising stock photography is marketed by the Bill Gates photo library, Corbis.
In 1986, Wallace commenced the celebrated black and white night photography documentation of Sydney-after-dark, entitled Street Light, a massive on-going project over 20 years.
The series presented an intriguing view of a city in slumber. Shot exclusively on black and white film and with Olympus OM cameras, the series attracted much editorial interest in Australian and international publications, including the Singapore Airlines inflight magazine and the Olympus company inhouse publication, Pursuit.
As of 2006, Wallace was still involved in capturing nocturnal Street Light views of Sydney, for commercial and artistic purposes.
Commercially, Wallace also worked extensively with mainstream editorial, advertising, corporate and government clients. His advertising stock photography was initially marketed by Stock Photos Pty Ltd, of Melbourne, Australia, and later by the Bill Gates-owned Zefa and Corbis photo libraries, generally considered two of the world's three largest stock library agencies. Wallace has also worked with blue chip companies, airlines and government departments. He has also authored a number of Australian and New Zealand travel guides, including two Sydney guidebooks written for Steve Parish Publishing.
