Robert J Brawley

Robert Julius Brawley was born in 1936 and died in 2006 of cancer.

His works are on display in the National Museum of American Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Mo, and other venues. His work has been mentioned in many books and magazine articles.

He began as an Abstract Expressionist but moved into realism, primarily still lifes and figure work. He is mainly known for this later work. Many of his still lifes were symbolic.

He was a professor, and chairman of the art department at the University of Kansas.
