Robert J. Hamilton

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert J. Hamilton was the 40th mayor of Barrie, Ontario.

A native of Huntsville, Hamilton has been involved in the Simcoe County region, mostly in commerce, for over twenty years. This is his second stint in Barrie politics as he previously ran for the House of Commons as a candidate of the Canadian Alliance, holding a tight race, but failing to suplant the previous MP. He currently owns and runs two bar establishments in Barrie: The Roxx as well as The Queens, arguably the most popular bar in the city.

One of his main objectives has been to bring higher paying jobs to the city. He has brought one of the Bank of Montreal's head offices.

Hamilton was defeated by Dave Aspden in the 2006 municipal election, and was succeeded by Aspden in early December.
