Robert Gayre

Robert Gayre of Gayre and Nigg (1905 - February 10, 1996) was a Scottish anthropologist who founded Mankind Quarterly.
Born in Cornwall, he was a Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army Royal Army Educational Corps. Through connections with Sir Thomas Innes of Learney, Gayre transformed himself into Chief of Clan Gayre, then appended "of Gayre and Nigg" by purchasing the feudal Barony of Lochoreshyre. Gayre became "Grand Referendary" of the Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem.
