Robert Barra
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Robert D. Barra was a Republican elected to serve his constituents of the New York 21st Assembly District in November of 2000. Because of redistricting due to the census, Assemblyman Barra became the Assembly member from the newly formed 14th Assembly district.
Barra graduated from Hofstra University in 1983. Prior to being elected to the Assembly, Robert Barra had served on the Lynbrook Village Board of Trustees from 1992 until 1997, when he resigned to accepted an appointed position as a member of the Hempstead Town Board. Unfortunately, he was unable to win re-election due to the change of how board members were elected; up until that point, Hempstead Town Board members were elected at-large, instead of using the district system that is in place today. Robert Barra lives in Lynbrook, New York, with his wife Celeste and two daughters.
