Robert Baldick

Robert Baldick (died 1972) was a well-known translator. He translated a number of classics of French literature into English, among them works by Huysmans, Flaubert, Verne, and Barbusse. He also translated several Maigret novels by Simenon. Many of his translations were commissioned by Penguin Books. Baldick also wrote a biography of Joris Huysmans. He died in 1972.
