Robert Rishchynski is a Green Party organizer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He ran in Canada's 2006 federal election for the Green Party in the Parkdale-High Park electoral district. He has been on the executive of the Green Party in Parkdale-High Park from 2000 to the present, and is currently President of the provincial constituency association. He is a long-time resident of Toronto's High Park neighbourhood. He also served on the Toronto executive of Fair Vote Canada in 2002-2003.
Rishchynski is an information and technology manager, specializing in geographic information systems. He completed his Master of Science degree in Geography and has post-graduate diplomas in GIS and Public Administration, and is a member of the Association of Ontario Land Surveyors. He is married and has one child.
Always interested in environmental and political issues, he became active in the Green Party of Canada due to the Adams Mine controversy, which resulted in Toronto's garbage being transported hundreds of kilometres to a dump in Michigan. Although seen as a solution by many, he felt that we shifted our problems to another jurisdiction that is now fighting to end this arrangement.
Of the four candidates in the Parkdale-High Park riding who distributed brochures for the Canadian federal election in January 2006, Rishchynski was the only one to practice environmental printing standards, using a waterless printing process, Bullfrog Power and an ISO 14001 certified printer. In this election, The Sierra Club of Canada rated the Greens' platform highest among all five parties in its commitment to the environment.
Rishchynski is the brother of G.E Rishchynski, currently Canada's Ambassador to Brazil.
