[edit] Career

[edit] 2002

Nguyen lined up for the first Formula 3000 race of the 2002 season in Brazil for the Astromega team only 15 months after first sitting in a single-seater racing car and only nine races of the Formula VW series behind him. Nevertheless, he proved a competent performer despite his lack of experience, finishing 13th on his début. He finished fifth in the sixth race of the season at the Nürburgring, scoring two points which remained his tally for his impressive first year. Less well-received was his spectacular collision with Ricardo Mauricio at Monza, which sent the Brazillian driver into an aerobatic shunt.[2] In a fundraising event late 2002 Nguyen raced the likes of Michael Schumacher, Mark Webber and David Coulthard and won in a surprising victory.

[edit] 2003

Nguyen switched to rookie Spanish team BCN Competicion for the 2003 season. He finished 8th at Imola and 5th at Barcelona to score 5 points under the revised scoring system, but he could only manage 13th at the A1-Ring. By the next race, in Monaco, Nguyen had run out of funding and lost his drive with the team. There was no other deal available, and Nguyen was forced to drop out of the series.

[edit] 2004

Nguyen returned to his home country to race in the Australian Formula 4000 Holden series with Hocking Motorsport, finishing third in the championship with two wins, five podiums, a pole position and 82 points from the seven races in the series.[3] His career details after 2004 appear to be unknown.
