Roary Rage
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roary Rage is the team mascot used for all of the intercollegiate athletic teams that play for Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida. He is an anthropomorphic representation of a Florida Panther (a Puma subspecies), from which the university's athletic teams take their nickname of Golden Panthers.
Roary is usually seen cheering FIU against traditional rivals such as cross-town rivals the University of Miami, as well as conference rivals FAU and Western Kentucky University.
Recently Roary and the University of Miami's mascot, "Sebastian", got into a "fight". Roary viciously used his paws, and appeared to whoop Sebastian. But the video clearly showed that not unsurprisingly, Roary instigated the fight, and struck when Sebastian's back was turned. Sebastian however, showing unusual restrain for a mascot did not take the bait, and although provoked, refused to retaliate. However, after the game, inspired by the players he roots for, Sebastian sneaked up on Roary in the locker room and used the very same helmet Miami safety Anthony Reddick used to slam onto an FIU player in the third quarter of the now infamous UM/FIU brawl. After slaming the helmet on Roary, he then proceeded in using the same cleats that Miami safety Brandon Meriweather used to stomp FIU players and criminally used them on Roary's face. Comic relief was provided by Sebastian's inability to wear the cleats due to his unusually large feet and instead wore the cleats on the end of beak. Roary still managed to ROAR like the Golden Panther that he is, and scared Sebastian out of the locker room with his shorts stained in mild yellow.
Video footage confirms this monstrosity and resulted in University of Miami's president Shalala issuing yet another slap on the wrist and replaced his meal of worms with a meal of Meow Mix. He was seen the very next week against Duke, alongside the vast majority of his wrist slapped football players. They managed to sneak past winless Duke, but were ridiculed by Virginia Tech at home the very next week on their way to their first losing season in decades.
