Road to the Title

Road to the Title was Ring of Honor’s (ROH) fourth show. It took place on June 22, 2002 in Philadelphia, PA at the Murphy Recreational center. It featured a tournament to decide the four people who would compete for the ROH Championship. The tournament was made up of four brackets, and the winner of each brackets would compete in a 60 minute Iron Man Matches at the next show "Crowning a Champion". Several wrestlers were brought in to compete in the tournament including Jerry Lynn.

  • American Dragon defeated Bio-Hazard to advance to the finals of Block C.
  • Spanky defeated Paul London to advance to the finals of Block A.
  • Doug Williams defeated Jay Briscoe w/Mark Briscoe to advance to the finals of Block C.
    • This was Williams’ debut match.
  • Jody Fleisch defeated Jonny Storm to advance to the finals of Block A.
  • Low Ki defeated Prince Nana to advance to the finals of Block D.
    • The referee stopped the match after Nana took a roundhouse kick to the head and was unable to continue the match. The began a short lived storyline with Nana having a concussion and not being able to be hit in the head.
  • Amazing Red defeated Xavier to advance to the finals of Block D.
  • Christopher Daniels w/Simply Luscious defeated Scoot Andrews to advance to the finals of Block B.
    • Simply Luscious became a member of Daniels’ new group The Prophecy.
  • Sumie Sakai w/Scoot Andrews defeated Simply Luscious w/Christopher Daniels.
  • AJ Styles defeated Jerry Lynn to advance to the finals of Block B.
  • Spanky defeated Jody Fleisch to win Block A and advance to the championship match.
  • Doug Williams defeated American Dragon to win Block C and advance to the championship match.
  • Low Ki defeated Amazing Red to win Block D and advance to the championship match.
  • Christopher Daniels defeated AJ Styles to win Block D and advance to the championship match.
