Category talk:Roads in the United Kingdom

I am thinking "UK roads", as now used, is a somewhat clumsy category. Road numbers in Northern Ireland are used also in in Great Britain. Therefore Northern Ireland roads and roads in Great Britian seem to belong to separate categories. Laurel Bush 14:03, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC).

As UK motorways are now listed in seperate England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales sections, maybe we should do this here?Regan123 03:03, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Category sorting

Most of the articles in this category have a sort key, so the road numbers sort numerically, grouped by their first digit, rather than all just sorting under "A" or "B". For example, for the A123, use the category link [[Category:Roads in the United Kingdom|1-0123]]. — sjorford (talk) 11:51, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I hate to say it, but...

Actually, we could do with adding "(Great Britain)" to each and every one of these. The reason is that this numbering system is used by other countries, leading to dab pages and renaming. So either we're proactive and rename the lot, consistently, or we let each person who comes across this lot (like me, trying to fix A2 road!) chose their own renaming. I vote for the former... :-) JackyR | Talk 18:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Road Block link

I'm not sure if this is the right place for it? The only external link is one that leads to a factual the road goes here or there and, I believe, is there only as an easy way to write road based articles? This kind of detail I would suggest should be left for the actual articles. What do others think? Regan123 17:58, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
