[edit] RMS-099 (MSA-099, MSA-009) Rick Dias

Developed by Anaheim Electronics the RMS-099 (MSA-099, MSA-009) Rick Dias (codename: "γ Gundam" (Gamma Gundam)) became one of the first mass-produced mobile suits of the AEUG for their fight against the corrupt Titans.

The Dias was created as an improved Gundam design, using the new material Gundarium γ. The formula for creating it had been recently developed on Axis, and was almost immediately stolen by the Federation. It was lighter than previous armor alloys, allowing the Rick Dias to carry more armor, more fuel, and more weapons than any other suit of its size. Because many of AE's engineers were former Principality of Zeon members, the Rick Dias featured many similarities to Zeon suits, including a "mono-eye" sensor and the Dom's characteristic flared legs. It was originally called the Gundam γ, but when it reached test pilots, they immediately christened it "Rick Dias", and the name stuck. After a full testing cycle as the Prototype Rick Dias, it entered mass-production for the fledgeling AEUG.

The suit was, in the traditions of Gundams past and future, capable of using a huge variety of weapons; Unlike most Gundam designs, however, it could carry all those weapons simultaneously. Several special rounds were developed for the Clay Bazooka it carried, including epoxy rounds to immobilize enemies without killing them, and the suit mounted a wide array of internal weapons. It also carried a pair of E-Clip charged beam pistols, and a beam saber. In addition to its already-large internal fuel supply, the suit carried special a special booster backpack called a "Random Binder" with its own fuel supply, into which the Dias could tap. This gave the unit an enormous effective range. A final advantage of the suit, at least in the early skirmishes between the Titans and AEUG, was unintended by its designers - its appearance. The Rick Dias fought like a Gundam, but looked comparatively innocuous to the Titans, most of whom were Federation combat vets that did not expect the Dias' combination of mobility, firepower, and armor from what appeared to be merely an upgraded Dom.

With all of these advantages, the Rick Dias was commonly used for commando missions and raids, and fought with distinction in some of the AEUG's most crucial battles. As two examples, it was used in the successful theft of 2 of the 3 Gundam MkII prototypes and in the AEUG's Jaburo airdrop offensive.

[edit] Variants

[edit] RX-098 Prototype Rick Dias

Also known as Prototype γ Gundam. This unit was used as a testbed for the recently-obtained Gundarium γ alloy. It was lightly armed, carrying a hyper beam saber and clay bazooka.

[edit] RMS-099S Rick Dias S

The Rick Dias S was designed to work with the D-Defenser an assist unit similar to G-Defenser developed for RX-178 Gundam Mk-II. The D-Defenser would provide great thrust for Rick Dias S in space and also has pair of machinegun as addition weapon. To accommodate the D-Defenser, the random binder was removed. This reduced its effective sortie range, but thruster improvements allowed its overall performance to exceed the original Rick Dias. This version also involves a minor alteration of the Rick Dias' armament, removing the beam pistols and replacing the clay bazooka with more powerful long bazooka, so the suit could serve in a long-range support role. The Rick Dias S combined with the D-Defenser is also known as the Super Dias. It first appeared in SD Gundam G Generation GATHER BEAT 2.

[edit] MSA-099-2 Rick Dias II

In this model of the Rick Dias, the beam pistols were replaced with a 2-barrel mega beam gun, and their overall mobility was improved. Several of the Rick Dias II were built and assigned to AEUG's ace pilots, but Anaheim Electronics stopped its production run early to focus on the development of the MSR-00100S Hyaku Shiki Kai.

[edit] RMS-099B Sturm Dias

This was an even further improved model of the Rick Dias and Rick Dias II. It had an additional flared-out armor piece on the head to better protect the sensors. The random binder propellant tank was upgraded (and remained the grye binder) by mounting extra thrusters and verniers to it. This gyre binder also mounted a mega beam gun similar to the Rick Dias II's. Anaheim Electronics was forced to provide Sturm Dias units to Neo Zeon during the First Neo Zeon War.
