Relationship rivalries are commonly seen in love triangles.[citation needed] Two (or more) people may rival over a person(s) of their interest. This usually leads to feelings of jealousy or envy.[citation needed] The rival is usually prominent in inciting a "battle" and threatens a valued relationship. The object of the competitors affects almost always likes or loves one rival more than the other, or sometimes both equally; leading to a conflict. Rivals are sometimes hostile towards each other.[original research?]
