Riser tensioner
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A riser tensioner is a device used on offshore oil drilling rig which moves up and down via pneumatic cylinders to maintain even pressure on marine riser pipe.
Riser tensioners are very similar to drill string compensators with the key difference being riser tensioners maintain even pressure on riser pipe and drill string compensators maintain even pressure on the drill string.
