[edit] Origin

Dennis Field, who also goes under the names of fury, flurffmeister, and refreshx, created the game in 2004 after becoming tired of the monotonous play of other MMORPGs such as Kings of Chaos and Dark Throne. The game officially began development on August 23. By September 3, the game was fully functional.

Over the first few months of the game, new features were constantly added, making the game more original, and in the eyes of many, more interesting than its predecessors.

[edit] Popularity and Economy

The game is free to play and supported by advertising and donations. There are over 3,000 active players. Growth of the game is solely word-of-mouth, by being offered the incentive of gaining an officer in the game. To gain extra men and a little more gold it is possible to give out a recruitment link, which when clicked gives you a certain amount of men and gold.

[edit] Overview

The game setting is in a futuristic fantasy planet recovering from a nuclear holocaust. Reigning this planet are the four races: Humans, Terrans, Minotaurs, Drones. Each of the races contain a unique 25% bonus to one of four areas: turn-based income, covert effectiveness, attack effectiveness, and defense effectiveness, respectively. The player selects one race and is placed in command of an army consisting solely of this race. The basic objective is to build the most effective army with virtual soldiers and weapons using gold, the in-game currency. This is accomplished by one of three methods: by making virtual attacks to steal gold from other armies, by recruiting and producing virtual soldiers to earn more gold every turn, or by spying on armies and hopefully getting a treasure chest which can contain gold, soliders, attack turns or unit production upgrades.

[edit] Gameplay

At the beginning of an age, all players start at the same status in order to give all players an equal chance at the top ranks. Attack turns, vary depending on the age you chose, and distribute unit production, income from soldiers, and attack turns. Purchases and training may be made instantly regardless of attack turns. Ranking updates depend on the age you are playing.

Recently added were two new additions to the game, Minute Melee and Age 2. Minute Melee follows the same rules of gameplay as the original game, but has shorter turns and therefore more action, more gold, and more fun than the original. Turns are 1 minute long.

The most recently added version is the Age 2. Age 2 is a very fast paced game turns are every 5 seconds and you can gain more than 180 men from click your own recruitment link.
