Rise of Legends neutral factions
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
As well as having three main civilizations (Vinci, Alin and Cuotl), Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends has a number of neutral factions, which can be taken over by the player. Generally, each faction has its own set of unique units, and are only located in one of the three main civilizations' territories.

[edit] Condottieri
The Condottieri are Vinci mercenaries, though they are "nations" in their own right. Rather than use the new technological advances, such as clockwork, that other Vinci nations utilize, the Condottieri rely heavily on mounted cavalry. They now live in small, loosely grouped bands, which are powerful but rife with infighting. Condottieri camps produce Soldiers (melee infantry), Dragoons (ranged cavalry) and Knights (melee cavalry).
[edit] Dark Alin
1000 years ago, a being named Sawu (accounts differ as to his ancestry and even species) dabbled with magical forces beyond the control of most men; he attempted to fuse fire and sand using spells and powers that are now lost in antiquity. Although he succeeded, there was an unforeseen side-effect of corruption that forever changed him into a being of Dark Glass—a tough, dangerous substance that gave him great abilities but drove him, apparently, quite mad. In a series of wars that nearly destroyed the Alin as a people, Sawu and his glass forces were finally defeated. Sawu himself was imprisoned in his home city of Mezekesh, and the city itself was buried deep beneath the sand, never to rise again. However, some elements of glass magic have been incorporated into the Alin armies, giving them even greater power.
Their magic can construct and control Dark Walkers, Glass Heartseekers, Marids, Glass Scorpions, Dark Glass Spiders, and Elder Glass Golems
[edit] The Fallen
The religious theocracy imposed by the worship of the Cuotl gods is uncompromising and harsh. This has led a number of the Cuotl people to rebel against this form of society. Led by former High Priests of their religion, the Fallen lead a struggle to free the people from this oppressive way of life. While the Fallen have managed to secure small amounts of the Cuotl God technology, their struggle seems doomed in the face of such overwhelming power.
They have the ability to build Fallen Sentinels, Fallen Warriors, Fallen Jaguars, Fallen Idols, Kuk Fighter Bombers, Unholy Arks, Fallen Priests, Fallen Snakes and Siege Elephants.
[edit] The Northlanders
Barbaric nomads from the cold north. They have little technology, so they rely on brute strength. Their hospitallity is less than friendly at any Vinci that happens to find their way too far north. The constant attacks by these raiders makes it impossible for any city to remain standing in their territory. The Alin know them as the "kah-ashik," which roughly translates to war people. Their buildings can create Berserkers, Berserker Riders, Spiritchiefs, and Cave Bats.
[edit] Dune Raiders
Mercenaries of the Desert, fighting amongst the other factions for dominance. Former kings have hired them for their more "underground" missions. They fight with little reguard for their own personal safety, but will stop to aid their fallen brethren. They strictly follow the Alin warrior code and can repeat it by heart. Their smallest assistance can sway the tide of a battle.
Their units consist of Dune Walkers, Dune Mantas, Dune Scorpions, Molten Afreets, and Wild Juvenile Salamanders.
[edit] Scavengers
Scavengers are the remnants of Clockwork bots crushed in battle and then rebuilt. They are slapped together with little to no effort and are often missing vital pieces.
They're composed of Scavenger Miners (Clockwork Miners), Scavenger Grunts (Clockwork Men), Scavenger Spiders (Clockwork Spiders), Scavenger Flyers (Pirata Flyers), and Scavenger Bosses (Land Leviathans). Though the Bosses themselves are not considered master units, when backed by other Scavengers they can pack quite a punch.
[edit] Renegades
The Renegades were Musketeers under the control of city-states crushed by the Doge. Out of their jobs, they formed a rag-tag band of mercenaries. As skilled as the very Imperial Musketeers themselves, they long to hear the sound of war again. Hire them and your enemies will have a deadly fight on their hands. The Renegades consist of only one unit: Renegade Musketeers.
[edit] Felignan Warriors
The Felignans, like the Condotteri, grew too slowly for the technological advances. They are now united under the rule of Don Sclario of Feligno. Under his leadership their loyalty was rewarded with constant victories. Their army is made up of Felignan Soldiers, Felignan Dragoons, and Felignan Knights.
