Rigoberto González

Rigoberto González is an award-winning writer of poetry and fiction. Born in Bakersfield, California, and raised in Michoacan, Mexico, he is the son and grandson of migrant farm workers. Since completing his third university degree, he has worked mostly in New York and most recently was an Associate Professor of English and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship, and of various international artist residencies, he writes a monthly Latino book column, now entering its fifth year, for the El Paso Times of Texas. He is also contributing editor for Poets & Writers Magazine, a member of the National Book Critics Circle, and is on the Advisory Circle of Con Tinta, a collective of Chicano/Latino activist-writers.
