Hello fellow Wikipedians, my name is Steven. Pardon the mess.

I am a college student in Clarksville, Tennessee, born roughly 200 years after its founding. I currently attend Austin Peay State University and see something along the lines of geology, planetary geology, areology, mineralogy, extrasolar planets, or other related stuff for a career. The only problem is that my mind changes faster than I can catch up to it, and I'm suddenly into something else, however I seem quite interested in these things as a whole.

I also have a fascination with space exploration in general, which would make me an advocate for space and I have created both a timeline and a Solar System Terrestrial Body Comparison Chart, within my subpages at Wikipedia:

One day my images could be used in articles to help the general public with an education of the solar system.

I was there the day we lost Pluto.

[edit] History

Where I was this summer (not my image)

I became a Wikipedian on January 4, 2005, after my obsessive-control-freakness took over and I became instantaneously addicted. However, this conflicted with my studies and threatened to shut me down altogether. I contributed whenever, but there was no given time or date I would be around.

I tryed to be as loyal to Wikipedia as I could, giving information as accurate as possible. I've created articles, and performed some major contributing to some, while on others, maybe only a minor addition, subtraction, or other kind of edit was needed. If I saw a spelling or grammatical error, or just flat out typo, or need for a change on wording or to prevent plagiarism, I edited it also. I also graded and voted on certain articles submitted for deletion.

I have awarded Kaldari the Tireless Contributor Barnstar for his relentless work on all things Nashville, Tennessee.

When I'm not submitting information here, I can be found moderating on Myspace or as an administrator/co-founder on Wookieepedia.

I was the primary contributor to the Clarksville, Tennessee until more recent edits have occured, Myspace (early on), and formerly Planets of Star Wars.

And because I was nuts about Star Wars (and still am), I also linked all the main Star Wars lists together, including: Planets of Star Wars, List of Star Wars races, and my created articles: Sectors of Star Wars, Systems of Star Wars, and Cities of Star Wars. The goal was to have everything grouped as one entity but different subjects go to different articles. On March 9, 2005, a particular Wikipedian decided to engage in Vfd tactics against minor Star Wars articles, known as the Great LucasCruft Purge, in which I desperately attempted to keep them all alive. Since Wookieepedia was created just hours after this event, and just in time (however totally oblivious to the Purge), those particular articles were moved into the new Wiki where they now live carefree lives without persecution or fear of deletion. Furthermore I would cease to help Wikipedia with its Star Wars articles in favor of the new wiki and its specialized treatment of them. However, I still do work on many other subjects on Wikipedia.

Subnote, I happen to share a birthday with an adult entertainment star which is interesting.

See Also: My User Page at Wookieepedia.

NOTE: Wookieepedia has taken much more of my time away from Wikipedia, so that I could concentrate on it. I may not reply to all messages or upkeep at the same pace that I used to. Much focus is still needed on Wikipedia's assortment of Star Wars articles. May The Force Be With You Wikipedians.

[edit] Vacation

I went on a vacation up north to Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Along the way I visited these places in Illinois: Peoria (during massive road construction), the Quad Cities, and Galena. In Iowa: Dubuque. In Wisconsin: Platteville and The Mining Museum, Dodgeville, Wisconsin Dells, La Crosse and Grandad Bluff, Onalaska, Sparta, Adams-Friendship and Friendship Mound and Roche-A-Cri Mound, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Appleton and Lake Winnebago, Green Bay and Lambeau Field, Crivitz, and Florence. In Minnesota: La Crescent. In Michigan: Iron Mountain, Crystal Falls, Iron River (although by accident), L'Anse, Baraga, Houghton and the Arthur E. Seaman Mineral Museum, Hancock and the Quincy Mine, Ishpeming, Marquette, Munising, Sault Ste. Marie and the Soo Locks, and Mackinac Bridge.

In August, I went on another trip to Franklin, North Carolina to find some corundum varities: rubies and sapphires.

In October, I will go to Magnet Cove, Arkansas to find titanium oxides, magnetite, and who knows what else.

Mineralogy of Mars:

Sources: JPL Mars Rovers site, Astronomy April 2004 Article by Bruce Moomaw

MÖSSBAUER is your friend.

I believe anyone that has a mineral named after them, regardless of the rarity of the mineral, should get an article. Usually they're dead already.

When I met Dr. Hap McSween, planetary geologist, geochemist and meteorite researcher at UTK, I never knew the man had an asteroid (5223 McSween, 1981 EX6) named after him!

NEWS FLASH: Opportunity has arrived at Victoria Crater

The best resolution ever by any Mars orbiter is shown in Image:PIA08813.jpg of Victoria. One can make out individual rocks as well as the Opportunity rover.

  • Mining the Sky: Untold Riches from the Asteroids, Comets, and Planets (September 1997) by John S. Lewis
    • Lewis makes a prediction that the abundant resources of the solar system, including limitless solar energy (not counting the limitless energy of Sol) could support a vast civilization of 10,000,000 billion people (or 10 quadrillion people). He argues that shortage of resources is "...an illusion born of ignorance."
    • According to Asteroid mining, "In 2004, the world production of iron ore exceeded 1,000 million metric tons. In comparison, a comparatively small M-type asteroid with a mean diameter of 1 km could contain more than 2,000 million metric tons of iron-nickel ore, or two to three times the annual production for 2004. The asteroid 16 Psyche is believed to contain 1.7×1019 kg of iron-nickel (or 170,000,000,000,000,000,000 or 170 quintillion kg), which could supply the 2004 world production requirement for several million years. A small portion of the extracted material would also contain precious metals, although these would likely be more difficult to extract."
