Rick Burgess

Rick Burgess (born May 9, 1950 in Barrie, Ontario) is a lawyer in Ontario, Canada. He owns and operates a law practice in downtown Burlington, Ontario, dealing mainly with small and medium sized businesses, as well as wills and estate matters.

Burgess attended the University of Western Ontario's prestigious Ivey School of Business and attended law school at the University of Toronto. He went on to join the Bar Associations of Ontario and California in 1980.

Since moving to Burlington in 1992, Burgess has been an active member of the Burlington community. His community involvement has recently included the positions of Vice-Chair of the Halton Regional Police Services Board, Vice-President of Performing Arts Burlington, and Past Chair of the Burlington Chamber of Commerce.

Burgess has taught business law courses at Sheridan College and Niagara College.

In 2005, Burgess was honoured with an Ontario Volunteer Service Award for five years of service to the Burlington Art Centre.

Burgess in 2006 sought the mayoralty of Burlington. His competitors were Cam Jackson, Joan Lougheed, Phillip Papadopoulos, and Stephen Kolcun.

On November 13, 2006 Cam Jackson, former Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario MPP, was elected as mayor of Burlington.
