Richmond - Windows to the Past

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Richmond - Windows to the Past is a book by Susan Cole (aka Susan Alcorn) detailing the history of Richmond, California.

Written in 1980, the material came from oral histories taken from the oldest residents still living. It was supplemented with 8x10 black and white photographs from earlier times.

The book starts with the Ohlone indian days in the late 1700s, follows the missionary arrivals, gold rush days, incorporation in 1905, through World War II, into the riots of the 60s.

This is still the current source for historical information on the City of Richmond.
