Richard Trowbridge
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rear Admiral Sir Richard Trowbridge, KCVO was Governor of Western Australia from 1980 to 1983. Sir Richard was Flag Officer Royal Yachts 1970–1975. He was appointed Governor on the recommendation of Premier Sir Charles Court in an unusual move, given that it had become established custom that Australian State Governors should no longer be drawn from Britons, but should be Australian-born. On the election of an Australian Labor Party (ALP) government in 1983, Sir Richard's term of office was determined, and he returned to retirement in England, without rancour and with good grace.
