From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Richard O. Boyer was an American freelance journalist who, before appearing at a Senate hearing, had contributed profiles to The New Yorker and written for the Daily Worker. He was implicated in Winston Burdett's June 1955 testimony before the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee as a Communist. The Senate subpoenaed Boyer in Nov. 1955 and he testified the next January.
At the hearing Boyer refused to answer questions about his affilations with the Communist Party, under the protection of the Fifth Amendment.
