Sir Richard Newport, 1st Baron Newport (7 May 1587 – 8 February 1651) was an English noble.
The son of Sir Francis Newport, Sheriff of Shropshire and Beatrix Lacon was educated in Brasenose College, Oxford from 1604 to 1607 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. Newport was Member of Parliament (MP) for Shropshire in 1614, and from 1624 to 1629, and for Shrewsbury from 1620 to 1622.
On 14 October 1642, he was elevated to the peerage as Baron Newport, of High Ercall in the County of Shropshire, having been knighted in Theobalds, Hertfordshire in 1615. After the murder of Charles I he fled to France and died aged 63 in Moulins
Lord Newport was married to Rachael Leveson, daughter of Sir John Leveson. Their son Francis succeeded his father's title.
