Richard Kim

Dr. Richard Kim (November 17, 1917 - November 8, 2001) was a Meijin, or one who has gone far beyond the limits of physical technique and achieved spiritual mastery. Kim trained with most of the prominent martial artists of his time and enjoyed personal relationships with greats such as Mas Oyama, Kenichi Sawai ( Meijin ), Gogen Yamaguchi, and Masahiko Kimura. Master Kim's greatist influence was the Meijin Yoshido Kotaro, from whom he received the Menkyo Kaiden, a transmission of technical knowledge and spiritual energy. Master Kim was a Shingon Shugendo priest, an ancient spiritual system uniquely Japanese. A graduate of the Dai-Nippon Butoku-Kai prior to World War II, Kim influenced thousands of martial artists during his career. Instrumental in the promotion of the academic disciplines of Hoplology and Polemology he furthered Don Dreagers work. Kim left as his legacy a system of Martial Science which he referred to as "The Way Of Mankind"!
