Richard Hernandez

Richard Hernandez {born Richard Antony Hernandez on June 25, 1989} is an American actor who is involved in theater productions and performances throughout Riverside County and San Diego County in California.

[edit] Early Life

Richard was born in Redondo Beach, California. For the first 3 years of his life he lived in Torrance, California with his parents. In 1991 Richard's 1st sister, Christina, was born.

In 1993, Richard's parents decided they wanted to raise their children outside of the influence of Los Angeles County. And so, the family moved to the small town of Temecula, California.

Richard attended Catholic School for his preschool and kindergarten years. In 1st grade Richard transferred to the Murrieta Valley Unified School District where his mother taught 4th & 5th grade at Murrieta Elementary School.

In 1998 his 2nd sister, Dominique, was born.

He continued his schooling in the Murrieta School District until 7th grade when he transferred to Linfield Christian School and finished middle school there.

In 2003, Richard transferred back to the Murrieta School District for high school at Murrieta Valley High School.


[edit] Performance Career

Richard technically began his acting career in Kindergarten in a school play where he played Pontius Pilot. However his first true community theatre performance was in 2002 in Christian Youth Theater's production of A Little Princess; Richard played the French Dr. DuFarge.

Richard stayed with CYT Temecula for the next 2 years performing in a total of 5 musicals with the group. While performing with CYT, Richard received his first major lead role as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz.

Months later he received his next major CYT role as the Beast in CYT's version of Beauty and the Beast. Months after the show had closed, Richard was nominated by Christian Youth Theater for a Director's Choice Best Actor award for his portrayal of the Beast.

During this time, Richard joined a touring performance group that put on shows throughout Riverside and San Diego counties; Richard also began to work with Broadway High Children's Theatre Arts Academy.

In 2004, Richard left Christian Youth Theater and performed in Annie with Broadway High CTAA as Rooster Hannigan.

With Broadway High CTAA, Richard has performed in 4 musical productions including Seussical the Musical, two separate productions of Annie, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

For Richard's portrayal of the Beast Richard was nominated once again, but this time by the Inland Theater League.

In 2005 Richard was honored to become Associate Director and Vocal Director at Broadway High CTAA. He helped direct 3 shows with the organization Annie, Seussical the Musical, and Peter Pan. He also was a vocal and acting coach in Broadway High's classes: Broadway After School, where he taught children 4-14 the art of performance.

During the years 2004-2006 Richard sang the National Anthem numerous times at different venues including: Lake Elsinore Storm baseball games, WAVE basketball tournaments, and Murrieta Valley High School sporting events. Richard also began to sing in his high school choir.

In summer 2006 Richard won second place in the Teen Vocalist Division of the Temecula Valley Arts Showcase competition.

-He was the Treasurer of his high school Drama Department.

-He is the Associated Student Body (ASB) Commissioner of Publicity at his high school.

-He has volunteerd more than 300 hours in the communities surrounding Temecula.

-He is afraid of heights.

-He can raise his left eyebrow and is considered a random information specialist.

-His favorite movie is Finding Neverland.

-He is currently applying for college at USC, UCLA, CSUF, and Cal Arts.
