Richard Ward Morris (1939–2003) was a poet and science writer. He received his doctorate in physics from the University of Nevada, then moved to San Francisco. There he started the little magazine Camels Coming, then became in 1968 the executive director of the Committee of Small Magazine Editors and Publishers or COSMEP. His selected poetry Assyrians was published by The Smith in 1991. A new anthology of avant-garde American poets Inside the Outside (2006) features a generous selection of his work and is dedicated to his memory. Morris loved a kind of cosmic irony.
