Rice Memorial High School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rice Memorial High School is an American private Roman Catholic secondary school in South Burlington, Vermont. It serves students throughout Northern and Central Vermont, about one third of whom are non-Catholic. It was founded on February 1, 1959 by Bishop Joseph Rice. Previous to this the school was known as Cathedral High School and was located in Burlington, Vermont. On the day it became Rice Memorial High School, the students marched from the old Cathedral High School to the new high school.
Rice Memorial's nickname is the Green Knights (influenced by the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont, a school with which Rice holds a close relationship), having previously been the Little Indians.
The school is perhaps most well known for Stunt Nite, an annual talent competition between the Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior classes. This was traditionally held on the weekend after Thanksgiving, however is now held on the Tuesday prior.
The school's colors are Green and White.
