Ricardo Tavarelli

Ricardo Javier Tavarelli Paiva (born August 2, 1970 in Asunción, Paraguay) is a former Paraguayan footballer, who played as a goalkeeper.

Tavarelli started his career in Club Olimpia winning several championships like the Torneo Republica in 1992, the Liga Paraguaya titles in 1993, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000, the Copa Libertadores in 2002 and the Recopa Sudamericana in 2003. He was part of the Paraguayan national team in the Germany 2002 World Cup. In 2004 he played for Gremio of Brazil with little success. He returned to Club Olimpia and ended his career playing for Sportivo Luqueño. Tavarelli earned the nickname "Mono" (monkey) because of his quick goalkeeping skills.
