[edit] Hi there
Hi there, Riana, sorry about not answering earlier. I was changing my userpage. Did you get to talk to Will? I'm hesitant to leave any messages on his page right now for reasons which I'm sure you understand. As Moreschi said, he's going to be gone for a few days. You're not going to use my talk page as a chat room are you? Fredil sure has someone who doesn't like him. How's that for an incoherent paragraph? Hope you're doing well! --Kyoko 00:54, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi there, I noticed in the page history and such that mosf of the people who reverted Fredil's page didn't leave warnings. His page is on my watchlist, so if I see something, I'll be sure to leave warnings. Have fun in class! :| --Kyoko 01:05, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
- I should have put a smiley emoticon after my chat room question. I hope your classes are going well. 'Bye! --Kyoko 15:23, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Halloween
You're welcome :-) And happy halloween to you too! What kind of traditions do you have in Australia? I know in the UK they celebrate it differently than in North America, does Australia have unique traditions? — Pumpkin Editor, at Large! 03:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well that's no fun! I saw on the Halloween page that it was observed in Australia with "increasing popularity". It is kind of a pointless holiday now, but so much fun! And the sugar highs that go along with it... — Editor at Large(speak) 20:23, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Forged comments
I'd like to bring to your attention that User:Jasethesurfy has comments on his user page formatted to appear as though you placed them. Seraphimblade 10:22, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikiproject:chemicals
Hi Riana, welcome at the wikiproject chemicals! I hope you have a good time editing pages about chemicals, there is always work to be done (a current example, Wim van Dorst just posted a lot of comments about lead nitrate, which is a FA-candidate). And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me, or one of the other participants in the wikiproject. Again: Welcome! --Dirk Beetstra T C 23:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Hello Riana. This is it, I think that I'm ready for an RfA. Runcorn created it here, and I've added co-nom sections for you and Mike, who offered to nominate me as well. If you haven't changed your mind about it, please add your co-nomination statement. :-) I shall launch my RfA late Saturday or early Sunday. Till then, feel free to edit the RfA as you please. Thank you. Best regards.--Húsönd 00:24, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. :-) Take your time, it'll be some 48 hours before I launch it. *starting to get slightly nervous* Regards.--Húsönd 00:28, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for all the time you took to provide such a kind, thorough nomination. :-) I'll tell you when I launch my RfA tomorrow. Kindest regards.--Húsönd 17:02, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] I'm thinking of getting an editor review
...but I want to wait until Will feels better. As I told Springeragh, the sensitive nature of the comments of Will and Fredil on my talk page, as well as my reactions, may be enough to discourage me from seeking review. If I am reviewed, all that would receive more visibility than it already has. Please tell me what you think I should do. Thanks! --Kyoko 01:58, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Riana, I decided to be bold and put myself up for editor review. I'm very curious what you have to say. Thanks for the encouragement! --Kyoko 13:44, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Hi there, and there's no rush to review me. You have something like 30 days before the page gets archived. Thanks, --Kyoko 17:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

-
- I'm glad that you are pleased with the lung transplantation article. I have a vested interest in learning about this stuff, and I hope that other people are helped by the article as well. Of course, Wikipedia should not be relied upon as a source of medical information, as I'm sure you know. --Kyoko 13:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- For the longest time, the link was merely a redirect to the organ transplant article, which tells you almost nothing about lung transplants, other than that lungs are organs, and they get transplanted. Even if I weren't personally interested in this, the lack of an actual article would be appalling for an encyclopedia that has more than 1 million articles. --Kyoko 13:48, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

- You're quite welcome. Btw, I skimmed through your userpage quickly and noticed you were Australian. You wouldn't happen to know much about the diplomatic/economic/cultural/military relations that Australia holds would other countries, would you? I started the US Australia relations article a while ago and haven't been able to get much help editing it. Sharkface217 03:46, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Help needed
Hi, I need your help in fighting Vandals faster. Let me know if you use any tools or somthign that can make our work faster. And how do you usually fight them. codetiger 07:26, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I have downloaded Vandal Fighter 3.3 and couldnt guess how to use it. I have a big list scrolling around here. codetiger 07:44, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Highway's RfA
Thank you for your comments to my RfA, some things have been said in good faith and have been taken the wrong, on both sides. I would use the tools quite a bit if I received them, mainly for helping with the Pokémon Collaborative Project, since they are lacking a current active admin to merge histories, protet pages, fix renaming etc. This is quite a large task because of our mass amount of articles, over 600 for sure, which all receive a fairly high level of vandalism, which could be cut down on wih blocking tools, since many admins don't have Pokémon on their watchlists.
My next use for the tools would cutting back on speedy deletion backlogs, something which has gotten worse in just my time here, the length of time is not acceptable. Speedy deletion is supposed to remove harassing or inappropriate content quickly, and I think it's something that needs to be at the top of our back logs lists. Other uses would include DYK updation, and helping to mediate newer users, which isn't a tool use, but admins are supposed to help other users, and I want to help Wikipedia. Thanks for reading, Highway Grammar Enforcer! 08:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you, I'm trying to get it under control. I've finally cleared all the archived requests, so I'm taking people of the top of the list now. Cheers, Highway Grammar Enforcer! 08:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Admin coaching!
Hello Riana! It's great to hear from you. I'm so glad to know that you've got User:Glen_S as your admin coach. He's a great guy with a lot of experience and a very solid understanding of the way Wikipedia works, and I'm sure you'll enjoy working with him. I look forward to voting for you on RFA in the very near future :-) Hope you're having a great day! David Cannon 11:25, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:birthday
Thank you so much for the wishes! Here's a piece of my birthday cake, for sharing my special day with me. It even has bees around the rim (my nickname)! — Editor at Large(speak) 13:11, 4 November 2006 (UTC) :-)
- Mmm... my fault, not yours. There are bees around the rim of the plate the cake is on -- my nickname (in person) is "Bee". Kind of a pointless observation since nobody here calls me that, but I was excited at finding it and I guess I thought I'd share :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 23:54, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Riana! Go to bed! Your talk page has been at the top of my watchlist for hours, and I know for a fact it's shortly after 1:00 in Melbourne right now... on MONDAY! Here it's Sunday morning -- it's okay for these Western guys to be up and editing. But not for you! Go sleep!

- We all need some tough love from time to time! And hey, I can enforce your wikibreak if you want me to. I'll request a block from an admin for not getting your homework done ;-) — Editor at Large(speak) 02:35, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- You freaked me out when I saw an IP had edited my talk page... But anyway, thanks for the advice on talk page creepiness. It's not every day you get marriage proposals here :-)
Good luck with exam craziness and your enforced wikibreak -- you'll be missed! I'm sending my love & good wishes through cyberspace to you. ♥ — Editor at Large(speak) 04:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

LOL! I just got one too. If he doesn't do anything else wrong, I guess I won't keep blocking him. Academic Challenger 08:34, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Sigh. He went back to his vandalish ways, so I blocked him again. Academic Challenger 08:40, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm afraid it would take too much time to figure out exactly how to do it. I'm not sure which other admins are awake and online right now who are better at those more sophisticated blocks. Academic Challenger 08:44, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
It was really starting to look like it, but now he's creating accounts. I blocked one. Academic Challenger 08:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I didn't even get a barnstar from him, what a guy. Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my page btw. Mkdwtalk 08:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

That H15-Whatever was the one that I blocked a few minutes ago. Academic Challenger 09:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I blocked Hinomaru2, and then another one who actually vandalized my talk page! Academic Challenger 09:17, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it is pretty amazing. On the other hand, vandalizing talk pages is really more disruptive than vandalizing user pages because it causes problems with real users communicating with the person being vandalized. Academic Challenger 09:24, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Just to let you know, I am going to bed now. That vandal we were dealing with made me really tired. Thanks for all your help. Academic Challenger 10:07, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm off to bed too. Thanks for the barnstar and all your help reverting. It was quite a night. Mkdwtalk 10:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] November Esperanza Newsletter
|
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.
Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
|
What's New?
|
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one! |
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts. |
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
|
|
|
- The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
- There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
- The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
- In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
- A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
- Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

[edit] Abstain section
Actually, I've never seen an abstain section before. I'm not sure if it's okay, as it might interfere with Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard/RfA Report, which is operated by a bot that reads the vote count. Regards.--Húsönd 02:01, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, so it seems. :-) By the way Riana, is it in your plans to become an administrator? I was just checking your contributions and I think that you have great potential for a successful RfA. If you ever need a nominator, feel free to contact me. Not only I believe that you are fit for adminship, as I also believe in returning favours (yes, quoting yourself here). ;-) Best regards.--Húsönd 02:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

On a side note, I noticed the nanotechnology mention on your user page. It's on mine too, but unfortunately it doesn't appear I'm as enthusiastic about it... — Editor at Large(speak) 20:29, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Nope :-) Wish I was interested in chemistry and bio, but unfortunately the only thing about Nanotechnology that interests me is the size (I love tiny things) and the building-blocks aspect of it; stack up a bunch of nanoparticles and make a robot that travels through the bloodstream! Maybe you can get me interested in the scientific part of it :-)

[edit] Something to think about...
After your exams are finished, would you like to be put up for WP:RfA? youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 20:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Cool. Let me know when you are ready in late Jan (after you get back from India). In the mean time, test out the waters in some areas of the 'pedia that you may not be familiar with (if there are any). BTW, to all other potential noms, I CALL DIBS. :) youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 20:59, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oops, didn't realize that others had approached you. Well, I guess I just hafta beat them to the rush when you get back. Even if I lose out, let me know whe you get back with a non-RfA related message (you don't want to appear to be campaigning) so I can accidently stumble across your RfA ;) youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 21:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, there are alot of newer users these days armed with popups that love to revert and give warnings. Just say that you are back. I will then zoom over to RfA and look for you to either create an RfA or give my support to an existing one. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 21:28, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
- WHAT. I want to nominate her! She's mine, bitch! Step off! Or down. Or something. I'm not really hip to the kids' lingo. Uh. What I mean to say is, I'm happy to co-nominate you. :p Thanks for the kind words, guys. I had no idea people thought I was doing OK - I'm rather humbled, to tell the truth. I have to do some admin coaching first, and have to finish my exams, and have to go to India (!), but after that, I'll definitely give this some serious thought. Thanks very much for being so very encouraging! Now get off my talk page before people accuse you of collusion and conspiracy... :p riana_dzasta 11:28, 8 November 2006 (UTC) P.S. E@L, noms get to vote too, so don't worry about that! :)

- Staking my claim in co-nom list - I GOT THERE FIRST - we had a talk about this via e-mail a couiple days ago. Speaking of which, I'm just about to send you one, Riana. Cheers, Moreschi 21:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks Riana
Hey Riana, thanks a lot for supporting my RFA... Well even though we never interacted before, you're kind of hard to miss:).. I have added myself to your list of friends. And well I see quite a lineup for your upcoming RFA... All the best! -- Lost(talk) 10:51, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Chemistry portal
Yes, a "Did you know" section might be a fun idea. I'm very busy right now, but I'll starting thinking of some interesting things to put on there. In the meantime, if you have any bright ideas feel free to take the initiative. Welcome, by the way, it's good to see another chemist joining us - the chemists here get on pretty well together so I hope you'll find us a friendly group to work with. I teach organic chemistry, so I hope you do choose to go into that field! If you need any help (other than doing homeworks for you!) I'd be happy to help out. Cheers, Walkerma 16:35, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ditto, but I'm not sure I could be much help there... I honestly know nothing about chemistry! I'll help with formatting, etc. but can't comment on the content. Anyway, let me know what you need and I'll see what I can do! — Editor at Large(speak) 18:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC) PS. it's not mood anymore, it's life!
[edit] Thanks and hey
Hey Riana - thanks for the welcome. It was in record time, I'd only saved my userpage about one minute earlier!! Really nice of you. xx raining_girl 17:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RfA-ness
Woah, you modelled yourself on me? What, were you drunk at the time? o.O And I guess I'll be thinking seriously about adminship in a month or so (maybe for Christmas?), or whenever Yanksox decides that I'm not crap. :)
And thanks for the support on the Benis thing. Mostly, I'm concerned that I didn't take enough time to ensure that I was right on with the story before posting it, but it's not a huge thing -- I really just want to make sure I hurt other people as little as possible, hence the Purple Star and such. That was also mentioned in Ars Technica's rebuttal of my post, which means that at least a few thousands people will be aware that I screwed up initially. Thank god. :) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 12:20, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh god, I can imagine the edit summaries you'd leave... :o Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 12:36, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- If you ever run for adminship, I demand that you do it while drnka. :D
-
- Hmm.. we just released a special edition of the podcast, and only after I spent an hour uploading the files and posting them on the internets did I realise that about twelve minutes in, there's this strange period of silence for about five seconds, so half a question is missing. "Fuck it," said I. I'm really professional about this, can you tell? Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 13:46, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- No, I was stoopid enough to do it myself. Maybe next time I'll palm it off to User:1ne... :) Hey, shouldn't you/we be in bed? It's past my bed time! Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 14:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- Nighty night -- I guess I'll see you tomorrow, or sometime soonish. :) Good luck with any exams you may have in the near future! Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 14:20, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm watching you. >_> Or rather, WP:ER is on my watchlist... Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 11:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fw: personal update
Hi there, I'm now being allowed a limited time online during my hospital stay. I don't have the time to respond to everyone, so I have to make this fast. Doctors have increased my dosage of sertraline, and they hope the increased dosage combined with more frequent therapy sessions will help stabilise my mood. I hope to be out of here by the weekend. Please spread the word for me, OK? As a side note, I am extremely concerned about User:Editor at Large. Wish me luck. (from Kyoko, posted on my talk page.) — $PЯINGrαgђ Always loyal! 19:47, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

- Most things that bother people don't make me very angry, but this isn't one of them. They should consider themselves lucky that I don't live where she does. — $PЯINGrαgђ Always loyal! 20:22, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] My RfA:
Thank you so very much for voting support in my RfA. However, I have withdrawn due to reasons that a stressed user would withdraw under. I'm sorry I have failed you & your expectations. Thanks, Spawn Man 09:02, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good luck!
Good luck with the exams, Riana! I hope they go well! And remember, Wikipedia will still be here when you come back, so don't worry about being away. :) -- Natalya 17:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Your confidence means a lot - thanks! -- Natalya 05:04, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to the ECOTM!
There's no problem with you, or anyone, joining up. Hope to see you soon! Start digging around for our first candidate, if you've got any ideas! DoomsDay349 05:20, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RfA thanks
Hi Riana dzasta, I am very thankful to you for supporting and comments on my succesful RfA. Shyam (T/C) 06:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
Aren't you the popular one! How are things going? Mkdwtalk 08:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Rather slowly, but not poorly. Most of the oppose have very unusual reasons, most of which don't truly make sure or have some sort of inaccurate false reasoning, which I suppose is good because that means there is not a lot wrong with the article. Been trying like crazy to get it Featured though. heh, feel like voting on the subject (good or bad)? Mkdwtalk 08:43, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- hah yeah I was curious to see who would be the first person to find it. There are a couple places on my userpage where its hidden. And thanks for reviewing Vancouver, it was very thorough. I'll try and make the changes tonight. Mkdwtalk 16:27, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
How long have you played for? Fredil 15:19, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Things haven't been too bright for me lately. I've played the piano for 6½ years now (I think), so that's about half my life, which is kind of scary. I'm in about Grade 8, soon to be grade 9 (RCM level), and have attempted about five of Chopin's easiest Preludes op. 28. Fredil 15:22, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Barnstars
So that fake barnstar came from you?!? Hahaha too funny. :-) Thank you. I'll place the broccoli one on my user page. Regards.--Húsönd 15:49, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, after some investigation, I see that you only gave me the broccoli one. The other barnstar was such an odd way for a displeased user to show his frustration.--Húsönd 15:56, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
