User:Rhymeless/Association of Young Wikipedians
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a proposed group for young contributers to the English Wikipedia. It remains here on my namespace until I can get some feedback.
I propose the creation of this group in order to provide advocacy for younger editors of Wikipedia, as well as to further the Wikipedia community.
It has come to my attention that ageism is rampant within Wikipedia, by anons, newbies, and established users, that kids and teenagers who edit Wikipedia are frequently misrepresented. In light of that, there is no necessary age cutoff to consider oneself a "young" Wikipedian; If you feel the description applies to you, then it does. On the other hand, if someone sent you here, then it probably also applies. It is probably also worth noting that this organisation in no way advocates censorship of Wikipedia, due to age or any other reason.

[edit] Feedback
- Good idea. I see that people my age are often stereotyped as a vandal (I'm 13), and I get congratulated for being one of the few mature and useful young editors, when in fact I'm only one of a few. ~Chris {tce@} 19:09, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

- Strong support. I've talked to you before, I believe, Rhymeless. (You reverted one of my edits to Mike's Super Short Show, hehe). Anyways, I do believe that age discrimination & judgment are very much a problem. I have ran into a few users on WP that think all of my edits are lies just because I'm young. I'm 11, and something has got to stop about all this ageism. Talk to me later when you get a chance, Rhymeless. It would be great to talk to someone about this. --silverBULLET(x3) 20:31, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
