[edit] Leslie Arzt

I noticed your comment on the AFD for the Leslie Arzt article. Please note that Wikipedia is not Lostpedia (or any other Lost fansite for that matter), and most minor characters with small backround stories should be confined to the Characters of Lost page. -Whomp 00:58, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minnesota congressional district maps

I noticed you've been doing a good amount of work on Minnesota congressional districts. I think only the Fifth District has a map right now, though. There are other maps at the National Atlas, and since they're works of the US Government, they're in the public domain and can be used on Wikipedia. Would you be willing to add these maps to the articles as you work on them?

Also, you might want to check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Minnesota -- the project could always use people from Minnesota. Happy editing! --Elkman 18:43, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help request

Hello. I have the user pages of most of the contributors from Minnesota on my watchlist, and I noticed you requested help with images. I'd be glad to help; just let me know what needs to be done. (You can reply here if you like.) Jonathunder 03:27, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

--Yes I need help getting images of Minnesota's Congressional Districts 1,2,6 from the National Atlas. Rhelmerichs 09:58, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

  • Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. It's been rather rough for me lately on Wikipedia. Anyway, here's what to do: From the link you provided above, click the link for "GIF Preview Map" for each district you want to view. (The "Print PDF Map" gives you a PDF file, which can't be displayed inline.) You'll get the window with a GIF of the map.
  • Here's where the tricky part comes in: You need to save the map to your hard drive, then upload it to Wikipedia. You can save the map by right-clicking on the image, then selecting "Save Image As..." in Firefox or "Save Picture As..." in Internet Explorer. You can save it with the same name, or rename it to be more descriptive.
  • Then, to upload the file, click the "Upload file" link in the toolbox on the left side of the window. (Or, just click on this link: Special:Upload) Click "Browse" and select the file that you want to upload. In the summary, enter a description of what the image refers to, like "Minnesota's 1st congressional district", and specify the source (i.e. the National Atlas.) Then, in the licensing dropdown box, select "Licensing: Work of a US Government agency". Click on "Upload file" and your file should be there. (As an example, I uploaded Image:MN Congressional District 1.gif.)
  • Finally, to add the image to the article, edit it and add text such as, "[[Image:MN Congressional District 1.gif|thumb|400px]]" at the top. As an example, I just did this for Minnesota's 1st congressional district.
  • You probably knew some of this already -- if so, I'm not trying to talk down to you or anything. The page Help:Images and other uploaded files has more details and all sorts of caveats, but this should at least cover the basics. Feel free to ask me if you have any further questions. --Elkman 03:41, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

Wow! Thanks a lot. With your help they all look great, don't they? -- Rhelmerichs 07:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikify

Just a friendly reminder to wikify your pages and keep them legible :) Tell me to get back to work! 21:17, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Copyvio

Cool! Sorry to bother you with it, but could you please put the sources into the article? This way it will not become an issue in the future. There is a bot created, that essentially takes large chunks of articles and does google searches for a full match. If there is one, it is listed on a page as a possible copyvio. This list is then checked manually. If you list the sources in the article I think we would be far better off. Thanks!! Mceder 14:33, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Congress COTW nomination

I'm playing with some ideas on how to improve our COTW performance. I added a To Do list to your nominated article Talk:Minnesota's 1st congressional district/to do as a way to help future collaborators have a place to start collaborating. If you are inclined, I invite you to populate the To Do list; and let me know what you think about the idea. Thanks for your efforts in this project--G1076 06:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mark dayton

Can you explain what this edit did to the page? [1] I am not sure. -Ravedave 00:31, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

It looks like you maybe did a subst: to the template, I dunno. I reverted it, so its all good now. I see that you are working on MN politicians, keep up the good work, I recently added all of them to my watchlist to try and keep POV edits out and I ended up doing some cleanup work to several of them. I am mostly working on getting Minnesota to featured article status so if you want to drop by and work on the politics section it would be appreciated. -Ravedave 01:05, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minnesota meetup

A meetup of Wikipedians in Minnesota is proposed: please stop by the discussion page if interested. Jonathunder 22:41, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I saw your edit over at List of cities in Minnesota, you going to come to the meetup? -Ravedave (help name my baby) 21:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Civility

Hi. May I request you don't reply to people as you just did on Talk:Main Page in such a confrontational and rude manner. I realise you were replying in kind to another user; however, this kind of approach is not conducive to an enjoyable atmosphere.

Thanks.

Sam Korn (smoddy) 15:08, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

If I hurt his feelings then I am deeply sorry. I have removed my comments and will not, in the future, insult in any manner people who don't enjoy baseball as I do. It was not my intent to harm any users or start any major arguments. I was just trying to make a point, and, yes, that probably didn't need to include snappy comebacks. However, I wonder if anyone posted a comment on Huey45's talk page. Anyway, let's say this is over. Thanks for the advice. Rhelmerichs 01:42, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Helmerichs

This has nothing to do with Wikipedia, but Helmerichs is a common name, in the area, from where I live. So I guess you have German (Eastfrisian) natives. Greetings - Eastfrisian 13:19, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:CRowley.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:CRowley.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:47, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Minnesota House of Representatives 2006-2007 Session

I'm confused about the naming of this page; though now elected, the session doesn't begin until 2007 and ends in 2008, and doesn't seem consistent with the dating of Minnesota House of Representatives 2005-2006 Session. Is there a mistake or am I missing something? Rigadoun (talk) 18:56, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
