Rhabdodendraceae is the botanical name for a family of flowering plants. Such a family has been recognized only for the past few decades by taxonomists.
The APG II system, of 2003 (unchanged from the APG system, of 1998), also recognizes such a family and assigns it to the order Caryophyllales in the clade core eudicots. It consists of one genus only, Rhabdodendron, of two or three species of shrubs and small trees in tropical South America.
The Cronquist system, of 1981, also recognized this family and placed it in the order Rosales. Before it was elevated to family status the genus Rhabdodendron had a very lively history as to taxonomic placement.
