[edit] Welcome & Links

Welcome!

Hello ReyVGM, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!

Please do not add commercial links — or links to your own private websites — to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 13:50, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] LinkSpam!

Please stop. If you continue to use Wikipedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 13:56, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 14:02, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for contacting me. You added a link to this site to about 25 articles. This is going to be considered link-advertising if you are owner of the site or not. Wikipedia is not a collection of external links. Please take a look at our external linking policy (Wikipedia:External links) to see what kind of external links we do want. As for you question, please do not link to this site again (especially on mass) unless you have established a consensus on WikiProject Computer and video games. Thanks. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 14:41, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Please don't do the spam.

You know what I can't stand? When people come to Wikipedia just to spam a link. Your site is entertaining, good and useful for a variety of things, but as JFish said, Wikipedia is not a collection of links.

You should consider proposing that VGMuseum be accepted into the external links of games, I'd likely support. Also, there are much better things you could do, like take screenshots from your site and upload them to Wikipedia, as many game articles have few to no screnshots. If you need any help, just ask. - A Link to the Past (talk) 14:58, 1 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] AFD VGM

Hi Rey. The consensus may end up being to keep the article but, although I had some pleasant nostalgia looking through old C64 articles, I don't believe it is sufficiently notable to be on wikipedia so I nominated it. Garglebutt / (talk) 03:14, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

I believe the web site is non-notable, not the article. It doesn't seem to be linked to much on the web and might warrant a link in an article on historical games but I don't think it deserves an article of its own. You should keep your feedback on the AFD on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Video Game Museum page to ensure everyone gets to see your viewpoint. Garglebutt / (talk) 03:37, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Well I see VGM survived the cut. Just a note to assure you there was never anything personal in my nomination. The boundaries of notability for certain kinds of articles are frequently challenged and this was just a part of that process. Now that the community at large has agreed to allow the article to exist you may wish to consider linking to the WP VGM article from some of the gaming articles as noone can argue that it is link spam.
