My review
Thanks for the positive review! I'm trying to work on writing more articles - I've got one in my sandbox, and I've just done a massive cleanup effort on Hurricane Gustav (2002), so hopefully I can add those to my resume of GAs or FAs in the future. As for the VandalProof thing, it's sometimes difficult to tell which edits are good faith and which ones aren't. I'm working on that, though. --Coredesat (talk) 03:37, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
your last edit to article Chip's Challenge
Regarding your recent edit of that article with the comment:
-
- (Reverted to version as of 15:58, 1 October 2006, the cleanup tags stay in the article until the issue is resolved, and since it is a descriptive tag, it does not need to be explained in the talk page)
Did you even read the talk pages? There is a whole section there that outlined why the links do not appear to violate the rules set out for external linking. It's been over a month and no one either responded to the arguments on that section of the talk page, nor did anyone made any further edits to the external links. But apparently you don't find them enough grounds to declare the issue as "resolved".
So I'm baffled as to what would make you considered the issue as being "resolved". You also said the tag doesn't need explaining, which is quite ridiculous since it is rather hard to resolve anything if you can't even be specific about the problem (ie. which links seem bad and why)!

Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for your review on my Editor Review page. Reflecting upon your review has led to me to concur with every critique and suggestion you made. I agree, the pile on vote was unnecessary and looking back on it, I am not exactly sure why I voted (except to offer my two-cents, which probably restated what other users had said). Thank you for your compliment on the kabosy article. I have not had the time to focus my efforts on expanding and creating more African music articles but I hope to soon. In regard to your comment on AfD debates, I agree with you to a certain extent. I am just getting acquainted with the AfD process and so my first couple of votes went with the majority; however, my more recent votes have reflected my opinion as a result of independent research (i.e. google searching and the likes..), it just so happens that my opinion seemed to favor the majority. In reference to your comment about the image I attempted (although failed) to upload, I was a rookie and had a miniscule understanding of image procedure. I eventually emailed the source I obtained the image from, but I received no word back. Finally, I will heed your advice and start to comment on article talk pages so as to share my ideas and increase that pathetic 1% of total edits. Again, thanks a lot; I really appreciate you taking the time out to review me. Happy editing! Wikipediarules2221 01:34, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

- Yes, usually I consider Wikipedia to be a hobby, so I am fairly easy going with it, but it was a strange and unusual reaction there. When I get focused on something, I really get focused on it, and i'm fairly shy and reserved alot of the time, which is hard to explain because i'm a volunteer for Carol Shea Porter right now.

- I know there's only one link to Randy Stoltmann, and it was me who put it there. This is a brand new article. I'm sure that there will be more links to him, because he was a popular (and very articulate and respected) guy. Significance? Three published books that sold well, and a wilderness area named after him.
-
- As for Jassi Sidhu, I checked this morning, and she's listed in "People from Maple Ridge". She should be listed in the appropriate "births" and "deaths" articles. I'm not sure where to go from here. There's no question about her significance; subject of a made-for-TV film and a couple of documentaries. But what would link to her? Indian crime? Canadian crime? British Columbia history? (I'll check that one.) Prescottbush 23:42, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

Auto Assembly Edit
Hi,
Just a comment about your edit of the Auto Assembly topic. As it was mentioned in the text and it is an integral part of the convention providing an accurate and up-to-date source of information on the event as it breaks, I felt that the covnention forum link was an integral part of the wiki entry which is why I ensured that it was in the article.
I founded the forum a few days after Auto Assembly 2003 as a support forum allowing people to ask us questions about forthcoming events and to act as a source of accurate news and information in parallel with the convention website in a way other forums couldn't provide.
As I'm sure you can understand, I check this page on a semi-regular basis to make sure that all the information relating to Auto Assembly is 100% accurate and ommiting the forum - which is a key part of the convention as it is part of our all-year-round programme of activities - seems to be a serious problem.
There is a lot more information I need to add to the feature, including details for Auto Assembly 2007, more background information and our connections with other events and a more detailed history, but I wanted to make sure the basics were there.
Hope this clarifies the position with the forum though but if you take a look at the forum properly, you'll see extensive coverage of the conventions themselves which is at the core of the forum.

My review
I thank you very much for your review of me at editor review. I will take much of your advice to heart. I realize it's hard to get a sense of an editor based on reviewing 2,500 edits but I think you did a good job. I haven't been involved as much lately with AfDs as I was back some months ago (February/March especially). A lot of the edits you saw were probably a lot of my minor edits for disambing links and wikification. Nowadays, all my AfD work stems directly from my wikification work (as opposed to months ago where I used to scour the AfD pages to find ones to participate in and the like). But again, I appreciate your look at my edits :) Metros232 00:08, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi Rey. Thanks a lot for your most accurate review. :-)
- Yeah, I do use rv and rvv in the edit summaries sometimes. Very rarely though, I apply those only when I'm following a vandal and make a manual reversion of his/her edit. Anyway I'll try to avoid such simplified summary in the future.
- One of my biggest concerns is indeed the 4-month time. Despite the exponencial growth of my contributions (I antecipate +4000 this month), some users will not refrain from opposing based on the time. I am however feeling very tempted to accept the nominations that have been offered to me, and risk an RfA in November. I would delay it if I receive negative feedback on my review, but so far that has not happened. :-)
- Yes, I might in fact mention Google a bit too much, but I don't rely on Google exclusively. I also use Yahoo, and generally I only mention my searches on these engines when they render such low number of results about an AfD subject that they clearly confirm their non-notability. Nevertheless, I have already found that some of the few results provided by Google actually assert some notability, so every case is a different case. But I acknowledge your concern.
- I do not have much experience with templates, categories and images for deletion, nor copyright problems or page protections. I admit that I'm not particularly thrilled about these areas, and I've been postponing a greater participation for some time now. I am not sure if I'd be much involved with copyright issues if I become administrator. Although I respect copyright, I really hate it and I reckon that I wouldn't be very anxious about dealing with it.
- I acknowledge your concern about bringing an article to at least GA. I'll see what I can do. Anyway I'm expanding Portal:Iceland and I'll try to promote it to featured portal. I believe that a featured portal could suffice as proof of decent editorship. :-)
- I've been sleeping 8 hours a day, and working on Wikipedia at least 10. Wikipedia has in fact interfered with my sleeping habits. Not uncommon for me to go to bed at 6:00am because I go sleepless when I'm using WP. :-)
Once again, thank you very much for your review. I will take your recommendations on board. Best regards.--Húsönd 17:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

question about link removal
Dear Rey,
I added a link to a trailer for GTA libterty stories in the game resources. I saw you removed this as part of a link clean up. What would be the appropriate place to link this trailer?
Best regards,
Ronald —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.214.100.10 (talk • contribs) .
- Hello. I guess you are referring to this addition. I have decided to clean the external links section per our guidelines, as articles should only have the necessary links for the casual user to visit, so it was not a direct action against your link. As for trailers, the official site has a Movies section where the trailer can be seen, so there is no need to include another site with the same trailer, regardless of the resolution differences that may exist. Hopefully, that answers your question. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 16:25, 24 October 2006 (UTC

Link pruning
Is this based on anything in particular? - I think you will find it extremely difficult to convince any of the major streams of Judaism that the links that relate to their own stream are not important enough to belong on the page Judaism, and that another stream is somehow more representative. Right now we have a quite good article that has involved some compromise. I see no harm in the links. If we try to prune them, I predict a bitter fight that will sap a great deal of energy better spent improving other articles. - Jmabel | Talk 05:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Feel free to try—I'm an inveterate link-killer, myself—but don't say I didn't warn you. I wouldn't touch this one with a 10-foot pole (said the 5'3" Litvak). - Jmabel | Talk 05:50, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the great review
I just wanted to thank you for your kind and helpful editor review. I plan on taking up some of your advice. Thanks again. --Whats new? 09:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
News for WP:WPDL
Hello! I proposed a news box for WP:WPDL, but there are a lot of subpages to be made and I'm not too sure about how to make a Collaboration of the Week (I also proposed that, along with the news). I'd like for you to come by and check it at the talk page. I know you're probably far more knowledgeable than I, so I'd appreciate your help. Thanks! DoomsDay349 21:22, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Re: Signing
Thanks for clearing that up. I figured I could just sign it normally, but I figured I'd use it, just to make sure it worked. Of course on hindsight I should've tried that in my sandbox....oh well.--Niroht 04:19, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Removal of edit for Association for Software Testing page...
Sir,
You removed the edit made by the president of the organization last night. He made the request at my request (I am the Executive Director - you can verify this on the site).
I'd like to request that you "un-remove" the edits as the current version of the page is more than a year out of date.

Further reading section from the article & Tom Basso
Why did you remove the Further reading section from the article Pit (open outcry)
Please look and read those 2 links to see that they relate very much so to the article.
Regarding: Tom Basso
I will add a link to a google book search page, which shows the book's page with the reference. Google Books is not a bookstore so its valid.
Here is an example of what i mean to say.[48]
This links to the actual page on the book so the reader of the article can read the book's page with the topic in question. No link to commercial site here, and it helps the reader!

Thanks for the review!
Thank you for taking the time to do this review, ReyBrujo!
- Shrunk sig
- Promise to use edit summaries! I didn't realize they were important until someone said in ChrisGriswold's RfA "Oh, you only use them 98.6% of the time?... not enough... no good..."
- Removed images from user space, that's another thing I didn't realize was important. Working on shrinking my old images, and other ones as I come across them. For the Death of Gwen one, I don't think it has a high-res link anymore, and I'm worried about making it unreadable. Most of the others are getting shrunk, though.
- WikiProject Comics has just adopted the rating system, so hopefully improving stuff to GA and FA will be a big priority. I'm quite optimistic about Spider-Man!
Thanks a million again! It's a huge help :D --HKMarks(T/C) 01:52, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use images in lists
Hello, I see you have contributed your thoughts to Wikipedia talk:Fair use/Fair use images in lists. It's been dead for a while, but I have archived it and taken a new fresh start. I hope this time we will be able to achieve something as I have summarized the main points of both sides (feel free to improve them) and I call you to express your support or oppose on the concrete proposal that I have formulated. Thanks, Renata 02:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
And Justice for All
You removed the AfD from the AfD list. Please don't remove it again without letting me know. It's Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/And_Justice_for_All here and it's been here since before it was listed. Also, please leave a not on my talk page if your going to undo an AfD nomination that I propose. --Tbeatty 19:53, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

- No worries. It was a small "for" instead of "For" and it was my typing error on the listing page. Leave a note next time if you could. If I didn't go back and check the listing page I never would have known it was orphaned. Thanks. --Tbeatty 20:23, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Links for maps to video games.
My account was unblocked and it was decided that maps of video games is a relevant link to have for people who want to use a map to help find their way through a game they are playing. Please leave the links to maps on video game pages. Many people find them of use. Thanks.
Nesmaps
You said: " (Reverted to version as of 16:59, 28 October 2006, this link is not appropriate for Wikipedia, as it does not add useful information for the casual reader. Please insert it in StrategyWiki, but not here)"
Then why do you allow the link to GameFAQs? Should that not also be for StrategyWiki? Why don't you remove their link as well as mine?
I believe the casual ready would like to be able to find FAQs and Maps for the game. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snesmaster (talk • contribs) .
RE: Maps for video games
And where it was decided? I would like to see the consensus. Until then, you should not readd them. Thanks. -- ReyBrujo 22:00, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Well, first of all, I hope you are not comparing GameFAQs with nesmaps.com. GameFAQs is supported by a notable company in the video game area. GameFAQs links are implicitely allowed in Wikipedia as there is a template for adding them: {{GameFAQs}}. Others like IGN and GameSpot external links are widely accepted. If you want to have your link accepted, either discuss and get consensus in the talk page of the articles where you are adding them, or go to the WikiProject about video games and ask for opinions. -- ReyBrujo 22:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
MY REPLY:
Jay said "You know what, you're right. You're now unblocked - feel free to re-add the link. If someone removes it, initiate a discussion on their talk page.
I don't know how high up the food chain he is, but he had the ability to unblock my account and he thinks Maps are relevent.
Who cares who owns the GameFAQs website or the Maps one. The point is the content, not the person who created the site. If GameFAQs has a FAQ for the game then good, put a link. If NESMaps has a map for the game that is relevant then good, put a link.
You mean: "feel free to re-add the link" does not mean I can feel free to re-add the link???? What are you talking about? What did Jay mean when he told me that then? Please explain becaues I am really confused. Snesmaster 22:35, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
Michael J. Fox
I know that wasn't the best source, and I was looking for a better one when you reverted the edit. I know for a fact that this is true as I am a big fan of the Back to the Future trilogy. I'll make sure I find a better source before I re-add to the page. - Mike | Trick or Treat 03:49, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Camel Trophy page External Link
Hello Rey,
My name is Bill Maloney and I'm one of the members of the Ottawa Valley Land Rovers club that created and maintained the Land Rover FAQ, a compilation of Land Rover related info we've been adding to since 1991. I'm writing as I see you are the moderator for submissions to the Camel Trophy page. Today I added a link to our Land Rover pages and was puzzled that it was removed shortly afterwards. The Camel Trophy (aside from 1981 where Jeeps were used) used Land Rover vehicles exclusively. We actually have 5 Camel Trophy pages in our site that I thought that visitors would find useful or amusing:
Camel Trophy history: http://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.6.CamelTrophy.html
Camel Trophy Book Listing: http://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.5.publications.html
Camel Trophy Book Reveiw: http://www.lrfaq.org/Reviews/tmills_9.html
Camel Trophy Video Review: http://www.lrfaq.org/Reviews/tmills_14.html
Camel Trophy Humor (scroll down a bit for this one): http://www.lrfaq.org/FAQ.6.taylorFAQ.html
I do appreciate the work and hassle you go through in moderating the Camel Trophy page. I hope you'll have a look at the pages, and if possible re-add it to that Camel Trophy page.
Thank you for your time, and if nothing else this motivated me to correct a messy table and an ordered list on a couple of the pages.
Have a great weekend!

- Hello there. First of all, I am not a moderator of the article (I barely know what a Land Rover is). The problem was that you did add the link to a lot of articles that were barely connected with Land Rovers, lest a FAQ, like Off-roading, Special Air Service, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, etc. When a user is found inserting a single external link to multiple articles, especially barely related ones, it is considered spam, the edits are reverted and the user is informed. Note that the FAQ is still linked in Land Rover, as it is considered to suit that article. The idea is that users don't add the link to multiple places and then the editors remove the ones that are incorrect; this approach would take a lot of time, thus we commonly revert all the edits. This is how I got to the Camel Trophy article and reverted it (since I reverted it, I warned you for that edit, I could have warned you for the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider one had I reverted that edit first). Since I don't know about Land Rovers, I suggest you to Talk:Camel Trophy, and post there a suggestion to add your link, explaining why you find it relevant. If the common editors of the article find it suitable, they will add, or ask you to add it. As I said, I justify the inclusion of the FAQ in the main Land Rover article, but I can't vouch for other articles, especially when I barely know about the topic. Hope this clarifies the matter. Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 17:30, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Camel Trophy page External Link
Hello Rey,
Thank you for the prompt reply. I did as you recommended to contact the editors of the Camel Trophy page and entered "Talk:Camel Trophy" in the search window and received the message "No page with that title exists", yet a page clearly exists with that title. I also tried "User talk:Camel Trophy" with the same results. Is there another way to contact the editors of the page? Regarding your question about the relavance of the other pages, the Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie used a modified Land Rover for her vehicle and the Special Air Services (SAS) has used Land Rovers for many years as their desert reconnaissance vehicles. I thought the connection of Land Rovers and Off-roading was clear also. Thank you for your time and I do appreciate your help.
Bill Maloney
- Hello again. As far as I know, anonymous can create Talk pages. So, click Talk:Camel Trophy, you will reach a page that says it does not exist, but with a textbox below. Input your suggestion to include the link there, and save it. You would then have created the talk page where others will be able to speak as well. You can use the different talk pages of the articles (every Wikipedia article has a "discussion" tab above, clicking it will take you to the talk page, where you can edit the page to add your inquiry (adding your petition to the bottom of the page). Unluckily, there is no centralized discussion for Land Rover matters unless you go to the Land Rover talk page here. -- ReyBrujo 20:32, 29 October 2006 (UTC)
