[edit] Biography

Rex Smith's brothers in order of birth are Paul Evan Smith III, Michael, and Webster. All the brothers have had careers in the music business. P.E. (Evan) as a road manager, Michael as lead singer in the band Starz, Webster as a pianist.

Rex played Danny Zuko in the musical Grease, and as Frederick in the New York Shakespeare Festival's Central Park production of The Pirates of Penzance alongside Kevin Kline as the Pirate King and Linda Ronstadt as Mabel. All three reprised their roles for the 1983 film adaptation. He also starred as Fred Graham/Petruchio in the 2001-2002 National Broadway Tour of Kiss Me, Kate. He took over the role of Pirate King in the Bellflower Civic Auditorium's 2005 production of Pirates. He is also known for his role in the short-running television series Street Hawk. He also played Daredevil a.k.a. Matt Murdock in the television movie The Trial of the Incredible Hulk. This was viewed as a potential pilot for an ongoing Daredevil television series.

Rex has released several albums, including the platinum-selling Sooner or Later, containing the hit single "You Take My Breath Away", which reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. His last album was entitled SIMPLY...REX. Smith received some poor notices from music critics; the 1983 Rolling Stone Record Guide rated all of his albums as "Worthless".

He now sells real estate.
