Revenge of the cradle

Revenge of the cradle refers to when a minority group has a birthrate that is significantly higher than that of the dominant group. The idea is that the minority group, if trends continue as they are, will eventually become the majority thanks to the growth in its numbers, and thus will be harder to oppress or discriminate against. The phenomenon is worldwide, with notable examples in Japan, Israel, and the United States, where several states have experienced a dramatic shift in the political climate due to expanding minority populations.
