User talk:Retard
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I object to this user's name. The name is offensive, and there is a Wikipedia policy of requiring changes to offensive User names. RickK 03:37, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
Don't take this personally, but RickK is correct -- I do encourage you to adopt a new username while you're still new (just log out and create a new account). Welcome, anyway!—Eloquence 07:45, Aug 9, 2003 (UTC)
Maybe just "Tard" might work. I dunno - we generally try to be accomodating. :) -戴眩sv 18:04, Aug 9, 2003 (UTC)
[edit] from problem users
User:Retard. This user's name is offensive. RickK 03:39, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Well, at least it seems he only intends to call himself a retard, not anyone else, as far as I can tell. Ксип Cyp 14:58, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- I believe the term has, for quite some time, been considered inherently pejorative when used to refer to persons of limited cognitive ability, which appears to be the intent here; that would put it in nearly the same category as the various ethnic, religious, and racial terms that we no longer allow as part of a user name. However, perhaps the user should be given some time to respond to the recently posted comment on his talk page before further action is taken. Kat 15:50, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- He only has 3 stub contributions of a quality consistent with the name. I'm not bothered by his use of the name, but I predict he will just go away. ☮ Eclecticology 09:12, 2003 Aug 9 (UTC)

- And lo, it came to pass that Eclecticology was proved right by events, and all marvelled at hir mystic powers. Martin 01:08, 14 Sep 2003 (UTC)
[edit] vandalizing talk pages
This user recently deleted my entries on this talk page as part of his effort to insert POV text into the Tarek Fatah article. - Mcasey666 18:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Wade 2004.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Wade 2004.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:21, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
