Retrocession

The word retrocession has several meanings, including:
- the transfer of risk from a reinsurer to another reinsurer
- the return of something (e.g., land) that was ceded.
- For the retrocession to Virginia (and, proposedly, to Maryland) of the land ceded to create the District of Columbia. See Retrocession (District of Columbia).
