Champions: Return to Arms is an action role-playing game for the PlayStation 2. It is the sequel to Champions of Norrath. It is also set in the EverQuest universe, but, like its predecessor, has almost nothing to do with EverQuest. It features multiple character classes, such as wizard, cleric, ranger, and warrior. Spells are on a "quick dial," which has eight slots in the shape on an octagon and allows the player to assign the circle and triangle buttons to any of the eight spells in the quick dial. The game is similar to Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo II. Rangers can add effects to their arrows, such as poison, ice, fire, lightning, and disease. Warriors can add effects to their blades, axes and polearms, such as more critical hits and the same elements as rangers. The game also features an online mode where you and three other people from around the world can enjoy the experience together.
The game is a very organized base game, where one has to level up. The max level in the game is level 80. This might lead to a way to continue one's character into the third installment, an option one also had in the first Champions game.

[edit] Story
The story picks up after Innoruuk the Prince of Hate has been defeated and shattered into shards of hate that were strewn across the Planes of Power. Champions have been summoned to serve either the forces of Good or the legions of Evil. You must choose your path. You may either roam the planes, searching and destroying the shards to rid the world forever of the blight of Innoruuk; or you may gather the shards to resurrect your fallen prince. You can decide which path to take.
