Tanno gives a detailed account of the history of research on the classical guitar in his publication “The Guitar Dons Cap and Gown: The Legitimization of the Classical Guitar in Academia.” In For the Love of Music: Festschrift in Honor of Theodore Front on His 90th Birthday, edited by Darwin F.
